(Zion Gate)
Like Jaffa Gate and Lion Gate, the layout of this gate makes you turn inside the outer gate, the idea being that assailants who penetrated the first gates would not be able to break through the second because they could not go back far enough. The original gate, built in 1540 still bears the marks of shells dating from 1948.
